Listen to me narrate (and pronounce my name!)
I'm Rawan Aladdin (yes, like the movie), a vibrant designer who's an avid history fanatic, classic movie-lover, amateur photographer↗ and a big animal lover↗.
My path into design has not been straightforward. I moved from studying Cognitive Science, Philosophy, and Digital Humanities at the University of Toronto into UX/UI Design at BCIT. Yet none of those shifts felt wasted; each one shaped how I understand people, technology, and the quiet details that can transform an experience.
I've always been infatuated with the space between creativity and logic. So whether I'm conducting research, mapping a user journey, prototyping in Figma, or bringing an idea to life through code, I return to the same question: how can I make this clearer, more thoughtful, and more human?
Social media has also become another space for me to design with purpose. Through my design Instagram page↗, I share my creative work and experiment with communicating ideas visually.
As a Syrian in the diaspora, I also created Syriatek↗, a social project dedicated to educating Syrians about technology after years of war. It grew from something deeply personal—my belief that digital knowledge can rebuild opportunity. Through Syriatek, I hope to make technology more approachable, while helping build and strengthen a digital economy for Syria.
Outside of design, I'm probably reading about history, watching a classic film, taking photos of moments I want immortalized, or stopping to say hello to every animal I meet.
In the end, I believe good design should do more than simply work. It should educate, empower, and leave people with something they can feel. Explore my work↗, and perhaps we can create something memorable together.
